Rigorous signal reconstruction in terahertz emission spectroscopy

Terahertz (THz) emission spectroscopy is a powerful method that allows one to measure the ultrafast dynamics of polarization, current, or magnetization in material based on THz from material. However, practical implementation this can be challenging, and result significant errors reconstruction quantity interest. Here, we experimentally theoretically demonstrate rigorous signal spectroscopy, describe main experimental theoretical sources error. We identify linear line-of-sight geometry spectrometer as optimal configuration for accurate, fully calibrated reconstruction. As an example, apply our magnetometry experiment, where recover photoexcited iron film, including both its temporal shape absolute magnitude.
